QWhy the Faculty of Informatics?

AI originally wanted to make games, but learning programming in high school broadened my interest in the whole field. I’m also concerned about climate change and natural disasters, and I chose this faculty because I can learn from a “comprehensive knowledge” perspective that connects informatics with medicine and social sciences too.

QFirst Impressions After Enrolling

AI expected lots of experiments and lab work, but the first year includes many required cross-campus subjects. Some classes surprised me—in a good way—like a digital creative fundamentals course where I learn professional software skills that could help in future research.

QWhat I’m into Now

AI’ve played guitar since middle school, and joining a light music club has made me even more serious about band activities. Performing at events is a big motivation.

QCourse Choice and Future Plans

AI’m determined to enter the Data Science Course. In the future, I’d like to work on topics such as weather prediction and forecasting the timing of disasters—while keeping my love for game creation alive as another possible path.

High School: Hokurei High School (Hokkaido)

I chose Chiba University because it perfectly matched what I wanted to do at university. I’m also good at presenting myself, so I felt confident (maybe a little too confident!) that I could get in through the application-based admission route.
