QWhy the Faculty of Informatics?

AIn my third year of high school, I attended Chiba University’s open day and heard a new faculty was being launched. That was my first time hearing the term “data science.” As I researched it, I became drawn to using data to create services and information that benefit society—and being part of the first cohort also appealed to me.

QFirst Impressions After Enrolling

AI like that we can learn and research in collaboration with other faculties. Even fields like nursing and horticulture connect with informatics, which broadened my interests. I also enjoyed introductory programming—starting from zero and improving through trial and error is genuinely fun.

QWhat I’m into Now

AOutside class, I work part-time and belong to a theme-park club. Chiba’s location makes it easy for members to meet and exchange information. I’ve also made friends from all over Japan, and living in a dorm has given me chances to interact with international students.
* The dormitory is scheduled to close and is not accepting new residents.

QCourse Choice and Future Plans

AOne career I’m aiming for is consulting—analyzing data from companies and society and proposing ways to solve problems. I want to keep building the skills to use data science in real strategic planning.

Study abroad is required, which was also a factor in my decision. I hope to study in an English-speaking country such as Australia or Canada.
